Field Sketching Workshop

The MOS Conference Committee invites you to the 73rd annual convention of the Maryland Ornithological Society, at the WISP resort on Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County.

For most Maryland birders, a convention in western Maryland is the one to go to above all others. The high elevation and unusual habitats with bogs and meadows bring with them a suite of species not usually found elsewhere in the state—species such as Saw-whet Owl, Alder and Least Flycatchers, Golden-winged, Nashville, and Blackburnian Warblers, and Henslow’s and Vesper Sparrows.

Workshops – Ikumi Kayama leads a drawing workshop, this time with emphasis on rapid sketching in the field as an aid in identification–once a widely-practiced discipline, now almost a lost art.

Workshop fee is covered in registration fee. Space is limited, so please pre-register for the workshop when registering for the conference.

Materials list:

  • Sketchbook
  • Pencils
