Do you want to start painting in watercolor but not sure where to start, what papers to get, or what paints to use? Are you worried that watercolor is hard? Then this class is for you.

This workshop is aimed for students of all levels who are curious to learn about watercolor to try basic techniques and color mixing. Students who are familiar with basic dry media (Graphite and pen/ink) will expand their toolbox to include wet media.

The single most common mistake made by students is to be too nervous about making mistakes. Watercolor is a very forgiving medium. The foundation of good drawing, light on form, composition, and color theory will be emphasized and revisited throughout the class. The class will focus on becoming familiar with the relationship between paint, water, and paper. We will cover basic painting techniques used by many professional artists. We will also cover common troubleshooting and how to avoid being overwhelmed.

This workshop will be a mixture of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on experience.
